NUTRITION: none of it works without this

I talk often about the 3 main categories when it comes to becoming a better you: Strength, Nutrition & Cardio. Which one do you think is the most important?


I've seen it firsthand myself and so many others. They workout hard in the gym, slaying the elliptical machine at an anaerobic pace every day. Weeks and months go by and see them in the same routine and look the same. Why is this?

Be strong and stay consistent

None of this will ever work unless you follow some simple nutritional guidelines. Do you know your TDEE? This is your Total Daily Energy Expenditure. This formula will measure how many calories you burn per day. Use a calrorie counter such as MyFitnessPal. I've used this exclusively (it's free) for many years. Once you start tracking your calories, you'll see how different food affects your weight and energy. Now pleasePLEASEplease don't start using the word "DIET". Diets don't work for the long haul. Diets are temporary. What you need to do is learn how to eat differently...better. You'll be able to see that more and gain some clarity once you start tracking (BEING HONEST) and reflecting on what you put in your body. Once you figure out the amount of calories your body requires to operate, you'll need to start figuring out your macros. This is basically the amount of carbs, fat and protein in your diet. After all of that is figured out, you need to figure out if you want to start a caloric deficit program to start losing weight. I recommend seeing a nutritionist. I visited VITL Nutrition in Woodinville and it changed everything.

By the way, I hate planks

NOW...if you add in strength and cardio regimens, you'll be shocked at how well it all works and a rather simple formula. I like to keep it even simpler, but that's another post. Fuel to work, not to sit. Hope you find this helpful.
